Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have made Tottenham's left back Danny Rose their top transfer target in the January transfer window. Danny Rose is regarded as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League at the moment and his performances last season earned him a place in the PFA team of the year. Despite Tottenham sitting in 5th place in the Premier League, Danny Rose has been part of a Tottenham defense that has conceded the least goals in the Premier League this season.
Both Manchester United and Manchester City have had to do with a make shift left back this season because of a lot of injury problems. Manchester United have struggled a lot in that position this season with Luke Shaw battling with a lot of injuries this season. They have had to make do with the likes of Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young in that position and they haven't fared all that well.
Manchester City have the likes of Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy in that position but both of them are 31 years old and Manchester City needs to look to the future. At the moment, Manchester City do not have a single fullback who is under 30 years old so targeting Danny Rose is a step in the right direction for them.
Danny Rose is a Tottenham player through and through and he will not be let go of so easily. He will cost the Manchester Club's around £25 million but it is highly unlikely that Tottenham will let him go for such a low price given his importance to their team. This will be a difficult transfer to pull off considering both the clubs will have to deal with a tough negotiator in Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
