The Premier Futsal debut season, which has produced some spectacular moments along with the thrills, has come down to two teams, who will battle in the all-important final. Ryan Giggs' Mumbai takes on Michel Salgado's Kochi at Peddem Sports Complex in Goa on Sunday.
Both the teams come into this final with their heads held high after their respective brilliant performances in the semifinals to reach the title-decider.
Mumbai players played some amazing futsal against Kolkata, who had to suffer a 4-2 defeat. Angellot was the star performer for Mumbai, scoring a hat-trick, and one should not forget the contribution from Kevin Ramirez, Giggs and Adriano Foglia.
Kochi defeated Goa in a tight encounter, 2-1. They have played Mumbai twice in the competition already, winning one and losing one. They can take inspiration from their first Premier Futsal win, against Mumbai, which they won 4-1 (July 16), while they lost 4-6 (July 20) in the second encouter. Now, all eyes will be on the third and final head-to-head contest.
Kochi can surely lift Premier Futsal trophy, but needs to focus on stopping the fluid and magical play of Fogila and Angellot, who have both put on a show in India with their futsal skills. If they manage to keep these players quiet, Kochi, who will depend on Solgado, Deives Moraes and Chaguinha, have a bright chance of lifting the maiden Premier Futsal title.
Both the teams have deservedly earned their place in the final, with some consistent play. It is such consistency, which needs to be shown by Mumbai and Kochi on Sunday.
Both the finalists have the players to excel, and the team, which is able to absorb the pressure and shine, will have a greater chance of winning the Premier Futsal title.
Fans have created a good atmosphere in the Premier Futsal, and they have been well entertained in the competition. With some incredible players in show including Giggs, Foglia, Salgado, and other stars, the final is also expected to be a cracker in Goa.
