Actor Chaitanya Krishna says he is amazed by the popularity of his co-stars in the Telugu remake of "Premam" — actor Naga Chaitanya and actress Shruti Haasan — among college-goers.
Chaitanya Krishna plays one of the friends of Naga Chaitanya's character in the Telugu remake of "Premam", which has been titled "Manju". Shruti will be seen as a lecturer in the college. Parts of the film were recently shot at Andhra University in Vishakhapatnam. Chaitanya Krishna was surprised to see a large number of students gathered at the locations for a glimpse at their favourite stars.
Chaitanya Krishna subsequently told IANS: "This is the first time I'm getting to work with Chaitanya and Shruti. We are currently shooting the college portion and the atmosphere in the university is electric!
"I never expected them to have such a huge fan following. Thousands of students are around them on the sets on the all days, while a few hundred of them are constantly clicking pictures. I know it's crazy, but at the same time so much fun," he added.
Chaitanya has two other projects — "Bhale Manchi Roju" and "Nenu Sailaja" — in his kitty. He says "Manju" has come up well so far, and he is thoroughly enjoying the experience. "This version is coming out well. All of us know there will be comparison with the original. Hence, we are pushing hard to give our best," he told IANS.
"Premam" is a romance drama about an individual who goes through various phases of life like infatuation, romance, first love and pain of separation. "Karthikeya"-fame Chandoo Mondeti is directing its Telugu remake. The director has reportedly made some changes to the story to suit the taste of the regional audience.
