Malayalam movie "Premam", which was released on 29 May across the country, has received overwhelming response at the box office. Directed by Alphonse Putharen, the movie had the best opening that Malayalam cinema witnessed in recent times.
According to reports, the initial response towards the film will help the movie to have a dream run in the first weekend. The bookings for the movie for the next two days stand sold out in all major cities.
In Chennai, the film was released in limited screens and the demand has led to increase in the number of shows in popular theatres like Mayaajal. Industry trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai tweeted that getting tickets for "Premam" in the weekend seems impossible in Chennai.

In other major cities like Bangalore and Mumbai, demand for "Premam" tickets are very high as well.
"Premam" has opened to highly positive reviews from critics as well as audience. The kind of response that the movie has got has adversely affected the collection of Tamil movie "Masss", starring Suriya.
For Nivin Pauly, 29 May proved to be a double dhamaka as his other movie, "Ivide", starring Prithviraj in the lead, also opened to positive reviews.
