Premam 1st weekend box office collection: Naga-Shruti's film beats Eedu Gold Ehe, Abhinetri

Naga Chaitanya's Premam has made decent collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office in the first weekend. It has topped the charts, beating Eedu Gold Ehe and Abhinetri.

Premam is one of the most-talked about and highly-awaited Telugu movies of 2016. Its promos garnered a lot of public attention and it was expected to get big opening at the box office. But the film had to share the screens with other new releases Eedu Gold Ehe, Abhinetri and Mana Oori Ramayanam.

Though it clashed with three films, the Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Haasan starrer received decent opening on Friday. The movie collected Rs 3.40 crore gross at the AP/T box office on the first day and it earned a share of 2.39 crore for the distributors. The film lead the race, beating the new Telugu film, which fetched some average numbers on their opening day.

Having garnered positive talk from the audience, the Chandoo Mondeti-directed film remained strong at the ticket counters in both the states. Premam has collected Rs 8.50 crore gross at the AP/T box office in the first weekend. The movie has fetched a share of Rs 5.91 crore for its distributors in three days.

Eedu Gold Ehe and Abhinetri, which were released in a limited number screens each, are estimated to have collected approximately Rs 3 crore and 1.50 crore, respectively, at the AP/T box office in the first weekend. Eedu Gold Ehe and Abhinetri are estimated to have earned Rs 2 crore and Rs 95 lakh respectively for their distributors in these states.

However, Premam has been made with a whopping budget of Rs 20 crore and its global theatrical rights fetched Rs 17 crore to its makers. The movie is estimated to have earned a huge share of Rs 10 crore for its worldwide distributors in three days.
