Salman Khan's "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (PRDP) has continued to keep the cash registers ringing at the overseas box office in its second week. It has beaten the lifetime international business record of "Baahubali: The Beginning" in 11 days.
The last week, there were no big-ticket releases either from Bollywood or any other Indian languages. Hence, Indian trade analysts had predicted that "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" would rock the ticket counters in the international markets. As predicted, the movie has done decent collection at the overseas box office in its second weekend and topped the business chart in key markets.
"Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has managed to retain maximum number of cinema halls that it was holding in its opening week, but its business has dropped by over 75% in the key international markets.
In its second weekend, "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has grossed $438,662 from 283 screens in the US, US$163,382 from 24 screens in Canada, £2,16,899 from 103 screens in the UK, A$1,18,146 from 30 screens in Australia, NZ$99,180 from 27 screens in New Zealand, MYR29,788 from 16 screens in Malaysia and €3,650 from 21 in Germany.
"Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has collected a total of $13.04 million (Rs 86.57 crore) at the overseas box office in 11 days. Leading Indian trade expert Taran Adarsh â€tweeted, "#PremRatanDhanPayo Overseas total: $ 13.04 million [₹ 86.57 cr]. But the Sooraj Barjatya-directed family drama has failed to beat the second weekend record of Salman Khan's previous movie "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which has collected $15 million (Rs 118 crore) at the international box office in the second weekend.
"Baahubali - the Beginning" has collected approximately $10.94 (Rs 71.30 crore) at the overseas box office in its life time. It was the second highest grosser Indian film overseas in 2015 after "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has pushed the SS Rajamouli-directed film to third place.
