Family drama "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (PRDP) starring Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor had a phenomenal second day at the domestic box office.
The second day (Friday) income of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is higher than the opening day box office collection of Salman's "Kick" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". "Kick" first day box office collection is Rs 26.40 crore, while "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is Rs 27.25 crore.
In fact, the second day box office collection of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is higher than first day business of "Singham Returns" (Rs 30 crore) and "Bang Bang" (Rs 27.54 crore).
After earning Rs 40.35 crore on the first day, Salman's film went on to earn Rs 31.03 crore on day two. On the second day, the business dropped by approximately 20 percent. The drop in the collection was mainly due to low occupancy at theatres till afternoon because of Bhai Dooj festivities.
But the occupancy went up in the evening and night shows.
The film will cross Rs 100 crore on its third day at the domestic box office, but only if Saturday's income is steady.
Meanwhile, the film has again failed to beat the records of "Happy New Year". Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" earned Rs 44.97 crore on day one, while on the second day the film minted Rs 38 crore. But "Prem Ratanm Dhan Payo" minted Rs 40.35 crore and Rs 31.03 crore, respectively.
