Pranav Mohanlal is following his father's path in film industry - there have been rumours of Mohanlal's son making debut as an actor - but Pranav has taken the role of an assistant director.
Pranav is currently assisting film-maker Jeethu Joseph in his upcoming flick, "Papanasam", starring Kamal Haasan.
"Pranav is a smart and easy going guy. He doesn't have any starry airs and has bonded well with all other crew members. Pranav doesn't demand any special treatment, and is staying along with the rest of the assistant directors," said Jeethu Joseph to Times of India.
After Mammootty's son Dulquer Salmaan made his debut as an actor, there were high expectations about Pranav's debut as a hero. But, Mohanlal later revealed that his son is least interested to be an actor, but might be interested to go behind the camera.
Pranav, a former philosophy student from University of New South Wales, is known as an ardent traveller and a passionate photographer. He was often featured in magazines and newspapers as probable super star of future.
He proved himself as an actor at a very young age. Pranav made his debut as a child artist in the film, "Onnaman", directed by Thampi Kannamthanam in 2002. He played Mohanlal's childhood in the film.
The young talent had won Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist in 2002 for his role in the film "Punarjani". The film was directed by Major Ravi. He had also made a guest appearance in the film "Sagar Alias Jackie" in 2009.
"Papanasam" is the remake of Malayalam super hit film "Drishyam", which had Mohanlal in the lead. Jeethu Joseph had directed the Malayalam version as well.
Though the Tamil version faced some legal troubles over the copyright issue, the Kerala judiciary has given nod to Jeethu Joseph and team to proceed with shooting of the film.
The shooting of "Papanasam" is currently progressing in Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu. The film was also noticed for the return of actress Gauthami. The last film in which she appeared was Tamil film "Sasanam" in 2008. The film also has the star cast of Esther Anil and Niveditha Thomas.
