Malayalam playback singer Ayiroor Sadasivan, who has sung in many hit films in the 1970's and 1980's met with an accident and died on Thursday, 9 April, 2015. He was 78.

The mishap took place on the Alappuzha-Changanassery AC road on Thursday morning, while he was returning from Angamali to Adoor after a programme with his son Sreekumar.

Even though they were admitted to a nearby hospital, the late singer passed away and his son sustained injuries.

His association with legendary musicians and lyricists like Vayalar, G Devarajan, Yusufali Kecheri, Sreekumaran Thampi, V Dakshinamoorthy, P Bhaskaran, Mankombu Gopalakrishna, MS Viswanathan and others has helped him become a much demanded singer those days.

In the 1970's and 80's, Sadasivan has sung many hit numbers, including his debut song "Amme Amme" ("Chaayam" - 1973), "Praananadha Enikku" ("Dharmayudham" -1973) and "Monchathipenne" (Maram - 1973), among many others.

He has sung and composed the "Ithile Pokum Kattinu Polum" song for the film "Vipanchika" in 1984. His last song was "Swamiye Saranamayyappa" for the film "Pambaanadi" in 1985.

The late playback singer, who hails from Ayiroor in Pathanamthitta is survived by his wife Radha, and sons – Sreelal and Sreekumar.
