Actress Prachi Desai's sister Esha Desai was set to make her Bollywood debut with Abhishek Jawakar's "Missing on a Weekend," but her dreams could not turn into reality owing to her husband and in-laws.
Prachi reportedly suggested Abhishek to cast Esha in his upcoming movie and being a close friend of the actress, the director roped in the newcomer. However, Esha backed out from the project after shooting the first schedule, leaving the filmmaker in limbo.
Esha had completed the first leg of shooting for "Missing on a Weekend" in Goa, but just before the start of the second schedule in Gorai, Prachi's sister informed Abhishek that she cannot continue shooting as her husband and in-laws did not approve of her being an actress.
"However, two days before we kicked off the second schedule, Esha called me to inform that she couldn't shoot anymore. She said she was facing troubles in her marriage and that her in-laws were unhappy about her working in a film. I couldn't bring up the contract or money because she was a friend. It was extremely stressful," Abhishek told Mumbai Mirror.
Nevertheless, the director was lucky enough to find a replacement in Khushboo Kamal, with whom he shot the Gorai schedule and also reshot the first schedule. "We wrapped up the Gorao schedule and went back to Goa in February to re-shoot at Vagator, Calangute beaches among other locations. We lost a lot of money since we had to bring back the crew of 140 people," he added.
The director, who is also the co-producer of "Missing on a Weekend," further said that he has no regrets for the change in the cast as the reshot portions turned out to be better than the first shoot.
