Telugu actor Prabhas is celebrating his 34th birthday today (23 October).
Prabhas, nephew of Telugu actor Krishnam Raju, began his acting career with the film "Eeshwar" in 2002 and followed it with "Raghavendra" in 2003. He became popular with 2004-blockbuster "Varsham", directed by Sobhan. The film fetched Prabhas "Best Young Performer" award at the Santosham Film Awards.
Prabhas has several hit films to his credit including "Chatrapati", 'Bujjigadu", "Billa", "Darling" and "Mr. Perfect" among others. His last release "Mirchi" (2013) is also a box office success.
Apart from the best young performer award, Prabhas has won the best actor (jury) award at CineMAA Awards. He has also been nominated for Filmfare Awards South on several occasions.
Prabhas will be next seen in "Baahubali", directed by successful filmmaker Rajamouli. The director's last release "Eega" ("Naan Ee" in Tamil) was not only critically acclaimed, but also became commercially successful. The film, which involved a lot of special effects, has won several awards and has been screened in several prestigious award festivals.
Expectations are quite high for "Baahubali" as Prabhas is teaming up with Rajamouli for the second time after their 2005-release "Chatrapati".
"Baahubali", deemed as an epic drama, is reportedly the most expensive Telugu film to be ever made. Anushka Shetty plays the female lead opposite Prabhas for the third time after "Billa" and "Mirchi". The other cast members include Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, Nassar and Adivi Sesh. Kannada actor Sudeep (who appeared as the antagonist in "Eega") is reportedly playing a cameo.
The epic drama is expected to release in 2015. But as a special treat to Prabhas fans, the film's director has released a short making-of video of "Baahubali" on the eve of the actor's birthday.
