Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer romantic film "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" is all set to hit the screens this Friday just ahead of the finish the Indian Premiere League season six (IPL 6).
Summertime is usually a peak season for the film industry to earn good amount at box office due to schools and college vacations. But this year's IPL has taken up the market. The box office was dull since the start of IPL matches in April.
Only "Aashiqui 2" starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sharddha Kapoor made it big at the box office after earning ₹100 crore. But apart from that the much-hyped films like "Himmatwala" (Released on 28 March), "Bombay Talkies", "Go Goa Gone", "Ek Thi Daayan", "Nataunki Saala" and "Aurangzeb", other films were unable to make it big at the box offices due to IPL.
But since the IPL fever is over, the focus is again shifted to films. Trade pundits now expect that new Bollywood films will now end the dry spell at box office.
"Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" directed by Ayan Mukherji and produced by Karan Johar is one of the most awaited films of the year as it features ex-flames Ranbir and Deepika in the lead roles.
The film has already created a buzz that it is going to rock the box office. The romantic film has is set for the biggest release this year after "Race 2".
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the screens count in India is expected to be more than 3000. The only disadvantage is that the film is releasing on Friday, a non-holiday.
But according to reports, the first day advance booking at some multiplexes on Monday has received fantastic response.
In Pune, the first show tickets were sold out immediately once the advance bookings begun.
Looking at the response, the film is expected to break the first day collection of Salman Khan starrer "Dabangg 2" which was released on 20 December. "Dabangg 2" had emerged as the biggest opener ever for a Friday release.
"Dabangg 2" had earned ₹21.10 crore in India on first day and "YJHD" is expected to earn more than that to break the record.
Well, we have to wait for one more day for the film to release and check whether it will break records or not.
