German luxury car-maker Porsche has launched the new Panamera diesel edition priced at Rs 1.04 crore (ex-showroom Maharashtra). The four-door luxury sports car is powered by a six-cylinder 2967cc diesel engine that develops 250hp at 3,800rpm and 550Nm of torque starting at 1,750rpm, mated to eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission. The engine powers the car to 100kmph from standstill in 6.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 244 kmph.
"The range of additional equipment available as standard (with the Panamera Diesel) makes this premium model a truly attractive offering for our enthusiasts," said Pavan Shetty, Director of Porsche India, in a statement.
It being a special edition, there are no changes in the new Panamera Diesel. The Panamera Diesel edition has 19-inch alloy wheels as standard and comes with bi-xenon headlights. It also has bi-colour part-leather upholstery in black-luxor and beige.
The Panamera Diesel is 5,015mm in length, 1,931mm in width, 1,418mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,920mm. It weighs 1,880kg, and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 80 litres.
On Monday (18 January), Porsche announced appointment of Pavan Shetty as director of Porsche India. Shetty will oversee sales, marketing, after-sales and network development of Porsche in the country.
Prior to his new appointment, Pavan was the head of operations for Lamborghini India under the Volkswagen Group. Shetty has been working with Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd since March 2012.
