German luxury car maker Porsche is all set to bolster its presence in India with an array of new launches. The car maker just updated its flagship 911 sports car range in India and the company will launch 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman and a new variant of the Macan SUV before this year ends.
Porsche India began operations this year with the launch of the new Panamera, and the brand is planning to launch a total of five new vehicles this year. "Porsche India started the year with the latest edition four-door sedan Panamera in January. The latest range of Porsche's flagship 911 model was launched in June. Three more models will be launched in the fourth quarter: 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman and a variant of Macan. It is very rare for Porsche to have so many product launches in a year," Pavan Shetty, director of Porsche India told the Times of India.
A report in Autocar India claims the company has already started accepting bookings for the 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster. The report says the cars have been priced Rs 80.13 lakh and Rs 83.95 lakh (both ex-showroom Mumbai), respectively.
Both the vehicles are powered by 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that develops 295bhp of power and 380Nm of torque mated seven speed PDK automatic transmission. The engine powers both car breach 100kmph speed in 4.9 seconds before hitting top speed of 275kmph.
Porsche India also plans to add two new dealerships this year in addition to the existing six outlets in Ahmadabad, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai. The two new dealerships will be set up in Chennai and Hyderabad.
