Popular Malayalam Mappilapattu singer Kannur Salim, 55, died on Sunday, 14 June, at around 9 pm after his car met with an accident.
The incident took place near Chala in Kannur when he was travelling to Koothuparambu alone in his car before colliding with a National permit goods lorry. Even though he was taken to Kannur AKG Hospital, he couldn't survive.
His body will be buried on Monday at 2 pm at Valapattanam Manna Mosque.

Apart from singing many Mappilapattu albums, he has also sung for films "Palam", "Manithaali", "Annu Muthal Innu Vare", "Master Plan", among others since 1980s. He also had small roles in Mammootty starrer "Manithaali" and Mohanlal's "Nayakan".
Salim is survived by his wife Laila and children Saleeb, Sajila, Salil and Sajili, who have also established themselves as Mappilapattu singers.
