Giridih, July 31 (ANI): Police officials in Jharkhand recovered a cache of explosives from a suspected Maoist hideout. During the search operation in Giridih district, the police team recovered 520 gelatin sticks and 330 electric detonators and also arrested a person. Officer in-charge, Saria police station, Atin Kumar, informed they acted on a tip-off and the Maoist connection is being probed. This is the second major arms haul in eight days from this district. On July 23, a huge cache of arms were recovered by the CRPF. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. The rebel group, which claims to be fighting for the rights of the poor and landless, controls some of India's mineral-rich areas and operate in large swathes of the eastern, central and southern countryside.
