The Uttar Pradesh police have filed a complaint against a 22-year-old man who allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl in Kosi town in the state's Mathura district.
The incident took place on Sunday when Vishnu, a worker in a tent company, took the minor girl to the nearby bushes and allegedly raped her. He fled the spot after the girl's family rushed to the crime scene on hearing her cries, according to a PTI report.
The minor was taken to a private hospital which referred her to Agra Medical College.
The police said they hope to nab the accused soon.
"We have received his location and if it is correct, he would be arrested today," Deputy Superintendent of Police Atul Kumar Srivastava said.
He added that Vishnu has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
