The Delhi Police on Thursday arrested a 40-year-old Ola Cab driver for allegedly misbehaving with and making obscene gestures in front of an additional sessions judge who had hailed a ride after finishing work.
According to Indian Express, the judge booked the cab to pick her up from the court last Saturday. The daily quoted a source as saying: "On the way home, she asked him to stop the cab at Kamla Nagar Market and wait. She said the driver started misbehaving with her and said he would not wait. She alleged he threw her bag after making obscene gestures."
An FIR was registered in north Delhi's Roop Nagar police station following the alleged misbehaviour.
The driver, identified as Sandeep, was arrested from Gurgaon, NDTV reported. He has been booked on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman, among others.
The channel quoted a senior police officer as saying that the complaint was filed on Wednesday,, after which a case was registered at the Roop Nagar police station under Sections 354 A (making sexually coloured remarks), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
IE quoted an official statement from Ola as saying: "The said driver has been blocked from our platform with immediate effect until further investigation. We will take all the necessary actions and will extend our full support to the authorities in resolving the matter."
