Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat is one of the most popular programmes on All India Radio and as a result it has been generating good revenue for AIR.
PM Modi addresses the nation on Mann Ki Baat. This radio programme has a wide range of listeners and hence it also attracts good number of advertisements.
The gross revenue that Mann Ki Baat has made through advertisements during 2015-2016 is Rs 4.78 crore, Mid-Day reported saying that the figure has been revealed by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
The report said that the revenue of Rs 4.78 crore has been generated only through the radio broadcast of Mann Ki Baat and does not include revenue from other platforms like live streaming and app-based services.
"Accordingly, the gross revenue generated via this programme during 2015-16 through advertisements is Rs 4, 78, 22, 480," the report quoted Rajyavardhan Rathore, Information and Broadcasting Minister of State, as saying.
PM Modi had started speaking on Mann Ki Baat from October 3, 2014 and since then it has been a regular programme on All India Radio once in every month. The idea behind the initiative is to reach out to the rural masses of the nation where television is still not available.
