While people have still not come to terms with rape and impregnation of the 10-year-old girl in Haryana's Rohtak, the victim's mother has requested the police to release the accused—her husband and the stepfather of the girl .

Though the mother is well aware that her husband, who is first husband's brother, had committed the crime, she wants him to take care of the family.
"Please set my husband free. These NGOs and activists promising big things will not take care of me and my children for life. They will go within two-three days. My husband will take care of us," she told HT.
The mother who is a domestic help earns Rs 5,000 a month while her husband earns Rs 10,000 as a worker in a private company.
According to the Hindustan Times, the mother did not believe that her husband had raped the 10-year-old. "When he (her husband) admitted, only then could I believe. I was shocked. He had been married to me for five years and I could see that he never looked at my three daughters with an evil eye," she said.
The mother added that she had no children with her second husband as she had undergone sterilisation. The accused had accepted the four children from her previous marriage as his own.
"After my first husband's death, I saw no life ahead with my four kids. He then offered to marry me and things looked better."
The girl is currently in the hospital, following the decision of a medical panel of 8 doctors who has decided to abort the five-month old foetus as they believe that a full-term pregnancy and childbirth can put her life in grave danger.
