Hyundai Motor India's competitive pricing of sixth generation Elantra sedan has raised eyebrows of its rivals. The emerging reports suggest that aspiring customers will have to rush as the introductory price will not continue for long. The latest version is priced in the range of Rs. 12.99 lakh to Rs. 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
YK Koo, Managing Director and CEO of HMIL, confirmed that Elantra's introductory price will run till December. "This is a good marketing and sales strategy followed by most companies at the time of a new model's launch. Expect prices to be raised from January 2017," Koo was quoted as saying by Autocar Professional.
The new Elantra is launched with the choice of 2.0-litre Dual VTVT petrol and 1.6 CRDi diesel engines. The petrol engine develops 150bhp and 196Nm of torque, while the diesel unit will belt out 126bhp and 265Nm of torque. Both the engines come coupled with the choice of manual and automatic transmission options.
Based on the new Fluidic 2.0 design language, the new car flaunts signature chrome hexagonal grille along with HID headlamps and LED tail lamps. It also gets projector fog lamps, welcome function with door pocket light, chrome belt line and chrome outside door handles.
On the interior, it is loaded with auto cruise control, 3.5 inch mono TFT-LCD, voice recognition and tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel. The sedan also packs infotainment system with 8.0 inch touch screen- audio video navigation system (AVN), rear view camera, engine start/stop button, rear AC vents and electro chromic mirror.
