Latest buzz in Telugu film circles is that Aamir Khan's recently-released "PK" might be remade in Tollywood.
"PK," which hit screens on 19 December, has been receiving rave reviews from critics and audience. The film is also doing exceptional business at the box office surpassing the ₹100-crore mark in just four days. The Aamir starrer is expected to enter the ₹200-crore club soon if it continues its fantastic run at the box office.
The stupendous success of the film has apparently got several Telugu film makers vying for the remake rights of "PK." Speculations are rife that "Gopala Gopala" producer Sharrath Marar has shown interest in remaking the film and Pawan Kalyan is the front-runner to reprise Aamir's role in the Telugu version.
Pawan Kalyan is currently working in "Gopala Gopala," a remake of Akshay Kumar's critically-acclaimed Hindi film "Oh My God." "PK," which deals with the issue of blind faith in God and godmen, bears resemblance to "Oh My God," which is based on the religious system. It is not clear whether Pawan, who is doing the lord's role in "Gopala Gopala," will be ready to another film in similar lines or not. As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the Telugu remake.
"Gopala Gopala" shooting is expected to be wrapped up soon, after which the post-production work will begin. The film, touted to be a satire drama, will have Venkatesh playing the role of a shop owner who takes God to court. Shriya Saran, Mithun Chakraborty, Madhu Shalini and Diksha Panth are also part of the film's cast. The film, directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasani, is all set to hit screens for Sankranti 2015.
After completing his portions for "Gopala Gopala," Pawan will be shifting his focus to his next project titled "Gabbar Singh 2." The action entertainer will not be a sequel to "Gabbar Singh," but will have a fresh script. The film will be directed by Bobby aka KS Ravindra and will be produced by Sharrath Marar under North Star Entertainment banner. Newcomer Anisha Ambrose will be playing the female lead, while Brahmanandam, Ali and Narra Srinu are also part of the film's cast.
