Aamir Khan is known for creating records at the domestic and overseas box office. Starting with the ₹100 crore club, he went on to create ₹350 crore club in India and now with the stupendous box office run of "PK" he will soon start a ₹100 crore club in China as well.
Aamir Khan's "PK", which set cash registers ringing, has earned over ₹83 crore alone from Chinese box office. "PK" China box office collection report has come in as a good news for trade experts as only few movies made their mark this year.
The year 2015 remained dull until May when it comes to domestic as well as overseas box office with only handful of movies putting up average performances.
But it looks like "PK" will change the trend at the overseas box office, especially in the East Asia region.
"#PK creates HISTORY in China. 11-day total [till 1 June, Monday]: ₹ 83.94 cr. Yes, you read it right. From China alone. Will cross ₹ 100 crore," box office analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The overseas box office collection of Aamir starrer "PK" has crossed ₹ 200 crore and now the film is looking for ₹ 250 crore target.
From the overseas region, the "all time blockbuster" film has earned the highest amount from Chinese box office.
"#PK China crosses #PK North America and is at $ 10.87 mn. Overseas total: $ 37.6 mn [₹ 239.69 cr]. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER," Adarsh added.
"We are thrilled with the audience response in China. Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra travelled across China with our marketing team promoting the film at media and audience events and culminated this with a grand premiere in Shanghai for the film," Amrita Pandey of UTV told IANS.
"It was such a warm reception for them in China and now the movie has become a talking point and opened to such phenomenal collections! This is a really proud moment for us, and we are happy to have made this impact in a new market."
"PK" was released in China on 22 May in approximately 4500 screens. The film also features Anushka Sharma in the female lead role and Sushant Singh Rajput in a guest appearance.
