Pizza Hut has earned more than $1 million from its app on Xbox 360, within four months of its launch.
The company has stated that it has done a business of $1 million, via Microsoft's Xbox Live. "It's been a source of unbelievable growth for us. Just the explosion of people who wanted to download it, experiment with it, play with it with Kinect. As soon as we did one, everyone was contacting us to do the next [one]," said Doug Terfehr, director of public relations for Pizza Hut, to Polygon.
The company was, however, hesitant to reveal if they would be pursuing the same course of action for the new Microsoft Xbox One, and also if they would broaden their horizon and introduce apps for Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Wii consoles. But they did admit that talks are on-going between Pizza Hut and gaming companies. "Wherever you are, we want to be," Terfehr added.
It is speculated that the company is planning to increase its pizza-order apps not only for gaming consoles but also on more traditional channels like the iOS and Android. This, the company believes, will provide it with a bigger base before it is eventually introduced on Xbox One.
"When you talk about a sweet spot for the pizza category it's definitely gamers and gaming. We're not done in that space," said Terfehr. "Our goal is to make it as convenient as possible to order pizza and do so in a way that enhances the experience you're already having."
