Indian female athlete Pinki Pramanik's case is getting more mysterious with fresh allegations and shocking revelations.
Earlier in June, Pramanik was arrested after a woman, who identified herself as Pramanik's live-in partner, claimed that the athlete is actually a male and has raped her.
The alleged victim filed a police complaint against Pramanik following which the athlete was arrested and taken to Baguiati police station in West Bengal.
The victim has now come up with a completely different story saying that she filed the case against Pramanik on the order of Avatar Singh.
Avatar Singh is the husband of Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, who is a former athlete and now CPM MP representing Krishnagar (Lok Sabha constituency) of West Bengal.
The victim revealed that she was forced by Singh forced to take nude pictures of Pramanik and use them as blackmail to get property belonging to the athlete. Pramanik and Singh were reportedly involved in a bitter land dispute.
According to state sports minister Madan Mitra, Singh had earlier tried to take over the land which was allotted to sportspersons by the Left regime. Singh was also arrested in 2004 for running a sex racket in his hotel.
The victim submitted copies of the taped telephonic conversations between her and Singh as a vital proof to prove that she is innocent. The tape is currently under possession of the West Bengal police.
According to Pramanik's live-in partner, Singh made the plan in a bid to take over the three cottah prime plot allotted to the athlete to make a high rise building.
"After a tiff over payments, Singh told me over phone we need to show the world Pinki is a male. Their problem started after Pinki demanded more money for the plot of land where Singh is building a highrise. Singh paid her a part of the Rs 30lakh Pinki demanded but their bickering continued," the woman told The Times of India.
The victim in her complaint alleged that both Pramanik and Singh had conflict over the transfer amount, following which Singh approached her to expose Pramanik's gender ambiguity before public.
"Singh would often drop in at our house in Teghoria. He knew there was a problem between me and Pinki and took this opportunity to turn me against her. In May, he instructed me to take a nude video of Pinki and circulate it," the victim told TOI.
"Singh told me only the video can prove to the world Pinki is a male. He said he would hand over the video to the sports ministry, the railways and other concerned people," she added.
Meanwhile, sportswoman-turned-politician and wife of Singh, Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, was one of the most active campaigners supporting the athlete. When Pramanik was released from jail, Sikdar along with the athlete's father was there to receive her on July 11.
However, in her husband's defence, Sikdar said, "My husband played no role in all this. Are all these allegations against us being triggered by our support for Pinki? I ask the minister making the allegations to provide credible proof for what he says. If this is true, why aren't they taking any action?"
