Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Pink has been witnessing a wonderful run at the box office, not just in India but also in the overseas market. The film's earnings saw a tremendous hike over the weekend, taking its worldwide collection to a stellar total.
Although the court-room drama made a slow start on its opening day, the collection of Pink witnessed a sharp rise on Saturday and Sunday. The film earned Rs 21.51 crore nett at the Indian box office by the end of its 1st weekend.
In terms of the day-wise break up, Pink collected Rs. 4.32 crore on Friday, Rs. 7.65 crore on Saturday and Rs. 9.54 crore on Sunday. The film registered a growth of 77.08 percent on Saturday and 120.83 percent on Sunday. Trade experts have been calling the weekend collection of Pink excellent.
Meanwhile, the Shoojit Sircar directorial has been clocking a wonderful run at the worldwide box office as well. The weekend overseas collection is out and Pink has been shining with a total of Rs. 6.55 crore in the first 3 days. Among the global circuits, Pink has performed best in UAE and USA-Canada.
"#Pink – OVERSEAS: Went from strength to strength with each passing day. UAE & USA-Canada contributed maximum. Total: $ 978,744 [Rs. 6.55 cr]," tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The film had received positive reviews from the critics and the strong word of mouth has been working wonders for Pink. Although it was expected that Emraan Hashmi-starrer Raaz Reboot would outshine Pink, the latter has appeared as a winner at the box office, at least in the first weekend.
Trade experts are assuming that the movie will continue to have a decent collection in the weekdays as well. With no big release this Friday, except Riteish Deshmukh-starrer Banjo, Pink is likely to have a strong hold at the worldwide box office in the coming days.
