Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer "Pink" started on a slow note at the box office but its collection jumped up brilliantly over the weekend. The court-room drama witnessed a tremendous rise in its earning on Saturday as well as on Sunday.
"Pink" collected Rs. 4.32 crore nett at the Indian box office on its opening day and it appeared like "Raaz Reboot" would outshine the film as the latter earned Rs. 6.30 crore on Friday. However, Saturday business of both the films presented a completely different picture.
Domestic collection of "Pink" shot up tremendously on its second day as it earned Rs. 7.65 crore on Saturday. On the other side, "Raaz Reboot" had suffered a decline in its earning with a collection of Rs. 5.49 crore on the second day.
Now, "Pink" performed even better on its day 3, that is on Sunday. The movie collected Rs. 9.54 crore on the last day of weekend, which is a wonderful figure. Meanwhile, "Raaz Reboot" made an earning of Rs. 6.30 crore on its 3rd day. Thus, 3-day total collection of "Pink" stands at Rs. 21.51 crore nett at Indian box office and that of "Raaz Reboot" is Rs. 18.09 crore nett at domestic market.
#RaazReboot doesn't witness growth on Sun... Single screens better... Fri 6.30 cr, Sat 5.49 cr, Sun 6.30 cr. Total: ₹ 18.09 cr. India biz," tweeted Taran Adarsh.
"#Pink Fri 4.32 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 9.54 cr. Total: 21.51 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT!," said the trade analyst. Taran further tweeted, "#Pink witnesses MASSIVE JUMP on Sun... Sun biz is double of Fri... Sat growth [from Fri]: 77.08%... Sun growth [from Fri]: 120.83%... SUPER!."
Although the hype around Emraan Hashmi-starrer "Raaz Reboot" was apparently much higher than "Pink," the positive reviews and strong word of mouth has done the trick for the latter. Emraan's horror film received negative reviews from the critics. It will be interesting to see how both the films perform at the box office in the coming weekdays.
