Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Pink has been going strong at the Indian box office. After a terrific opening weekend, the film continues to shine and has collected a good amount on its fourth day.
Pink has collected Rs 3.78 crore on its first Monday. The film, also starring Taapsee Pannu, has shown a 120.83 percent jump from Friday (opening day) to packed theatres on Sunday. The day-wise breakup of the domestic box office collection is: Rs 4.32 crore (Friday), Rs 7.65 crore (Saturday), Rs 9.54 crore (Sunday) and Rs 3.78 crore (Monday). The total domestic box office collection of Pink now stands at Rs 25.29 crore nett.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#Pink continues its VICTORY MARCH on Mon... Fri 4.32 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 9.54 cr, Mon 3.78 cr. Total: ₹ 25.29 cr. India biz."
Pink has failed to beat the four day domestic box office collection record of Big B and Deepika Padukone's Piku (Rs 29.62 crore). However, the Shoojit Sircar directorial is expected to witness a steady run in the coming days and break a few box office records. Going by the pace at which Pink is drawing audience to the theatres, it is expected to surpass the first week domestic box office collection of Piku (Rs 41.42 crore) in seven days.
This is the second time Senior Bachchan and Shoojit have teamed up for a film. They had earlier worked together in Piku, although their association goes back to Shoebite, which unfortunately never hit the big screen.
Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and produced by Shoojit, Pink is a courtroom drama-thriller. It is the story of three independent girls who get into trouble during a party. Bachchan plays the role of lawyer Deepak Sehgal, who fights the case for Tapsee's character Minal Arora. Others who play key roles in the film are Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Piyush Mishra, Angad Bedi and Dhritiman Chatterjee.
