Pimples are something all of us have struggled with at some point or the other in life. Be it a commoner or celebrities like Alicia Keys and Katy Perry, we have all had to deal with the little bumps on our faces.
Perry has often spoken about her struggle and once told Cosmopolitan: "I got acne at the start of my career. It was a stressful time. One [of my insecurities is] that I have acne scars. I'm self-conscious about that, so sometimes I wear too much makeup to cover them up."
Here's why you get pimples. There are oil producing glands present in our skin called sebaceous glands whose function is to secrete oil to keep the skin and hair moisturised. When these glands get infected by bacteria, they tend to swell up and get filled with pus.
We overstress ourselves thinking about how to get rid of them and most of us end up picking on it, which in turn leaves ugly scars. As they say, "Prevention is better than cure," so here are some really easy tips to prevent pimples.
Drink a lot of water
Drinking a lot of water is the best thing to do in order to keep pimples away. Doing so flushes out all the impurities from your body while keeping your body hydrated.
Use a good face wash
Buy a good face wash and clean your face thoroughly. This will wash away all the dirt and oil from the skin leaving the pores clean and germ free. Make sure your face wash doesn't over dry your skin.
Steam the impurities out
Steaming your face once in a while is an amazing thing to do as it brings out all the impurities from deep within the skin and clears the pores. It also helps in toning the skin, while removing tan and dirt.
Scrub out the dirt
The pores of our skin get clogged with dirt and dead cells; scrubbing the skin helps in exfoliating and deep cleansing. It also helps in removing blackheads and whiteheads and takes off the tan as well. Scrubbing leaves your skin soft, smooth and glowing.
Lemon improves your skin
Cut a lemon into 2 halves or use lemon juice with the help of a cotton ball, massage your skin intensely and leave it with for 15 to 20 minutes and feel the difference. Lemon juice leaves your skin oil and bacteria-free. It also aids in lightening your scars and skin tone.
Make sure your skin remains clean and is moisturised all the time. This will prevent dirt and oil from blocking the skin pores while keeping germs away.
