A casual night of weekend strolling, eating and shopping in a night market in Davao, Philippines, soon turned into a market of dead bodies, blood and screams after an explosion ripped through the market at Roxas street late on Friday evening.
At least 14 people have been confirmed dead and 71 others were injured following the blast.
Philippino President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of lawlessness in the country, soon after the explosion, which he termed as an act of terrorism.
"There is a crisis in the country now involving drugs, extrajudicial killings as they say, killings and there seems to be the environment of lawlessness."
Witnesses told the media that they heard a loud bang before 11 p.m. local time. The sound of the blast came from a massage area in the middle of the street, following which smoke was seen.
