Poor rainfall in August, September causes 14% monsoon rain deficit
As against the normal monsoon rainfall of 887.5 mm during June to September, India recorded only 760.6 mm rainfall, which was 14% lower. With the withdrawal of the monsoon system from the country, now many parts of it remain parched. As per the IMD data, June saw good rainfall, which improved further in July. However, there was not enough rain during August and September, leading to drought like situation in various parts, particularly in north and south-west.
