India recorded a nominal rise of 1.3% in its mineral production to Rs 17,564 crore in July 2015 as compared to the yield a year ago, according to the latest data of Ministry of Mines. Despite restrictions on iron ore mining in various parts of the country, its production increased to 119 lakh tonne, resulting in a jump of over 25% to Rs 1,989 crore in July 2015 on year-on-year basis. Coal mining, however, did not see much change as the production was restricted to Rs 6,045 crore, a rise of 0.4%. Production of minerals like apatite, bauxite and chromite registered a good jump, while that of magnesite fell sharply.
