Geeta Phogat and Pawan Kumar tie the knot in Balali, Haryana, on SundayIANS

Geeta Phogat, whose life will be portrayed in the Aamir Khan-starrer movie Dangal, got married on Sunday with fellow wrestler Pawan Kumar in Balali, Haryana. The 27-year-old is the first woman wrestler from the country to qualify for the Olympics in London in 2012.

It was unfortunate that she couldn't be seen in the Rio 2016 Olympics as she couldn't reach the qualification target for the quadrennial event this time around. However, the calendar year will not end too bad for the accomplished pehlwan (wrestler) as she firstly, got finally rewarded by the Haryana Govt last month, when appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police, and secondly, she enters a new innings in her life with Pawan Kumar.

Also, popular face of Indian TV, Sana Shaikh, will play the role of Geeta in Dangal, scheduled for a December 23 release. 

Veteran Indian actor Aamir Khan, who will play the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat -- the father of Geeta, Babita Kumari and Vinesh Phogat -- in the upcoming Bollywood film, attended the marriage ceremony in the Balali village, dressed in traditional attire and surprising one and all. 

Also present in the marriage ceremony was Sakshi Malik, the first-ever woman wrestler from India to win a medal in the Olympics. The 24-year-old Sakshi, who got engaged to wrestler Satyawart Kadian at a private ceremony in Rohtak, Haryana last month, won the bronze medal after an impressive show in the Rio 2016 Olympics. She turned up in a lehenga!
