England cricket team fans might have just been sledged in the worst way possible during the fourth Test match between India and England in Mumbai, which concluded on Monday morning. Virat Kohli's men won the match by an innings and 36 runs and also, in the process, the five-match series.
However, a relatively unnoticed incident until now, may be starting to hog limelight. Fans were invited to post their messages of support for their respective teams during the Test match and some selected ones were told that their messages would get beamed at the scorecard during the match.
Messages of support did come in, as did some thrash one-liners of the highest orders, being attributed to certain personalities from England. Not sure if the Indian fans or some sections of England cricket fans are behind the incident, but it definitely raised a lot of eyebrows.
References to former Premier League footballer Adam Johnson, Madeleine McCann as well as UK politician Nigel Farage were made in the messages.
Check out some of the messages below:
Lovely to see so many young cricket fans here today!" - Adam Johnson
Johnson, an ex-Manchester City and ex-Sunderland player, was sentenced to a six-year term in prison for sexual activities with a minor earlier in March this year. The footballer admitted to meeting the girl in the end of December 2014 and carrying out sexual activity with her in early 2015, despite knowing that she was under 16. In the UK, 16 is the age of consent.
Great to see so many Indian faces... in India! :) C'mon England!" - Nigel Farage
Farage is a highly-controversial British politician who was the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) from 2006 to 2009 and again from 2010 to 2016. Meanwhile, it is also reported that Donald Trump wants Nigel Farage as UK's ambassador to the US!
So grateful for my parents to bring me to the Cricket! Great day so far :)" - Madeleine McCann
Madeleine, born in Leicester, England, disappeared as a three-year-old during May 3, 2007, from Portugal, and is still not found. She has been missing for close to 10 years now. Search operations are still on, however.
