Forbes has released the names of the most overpaid actors and the list includes top Hollywood stars who belong to the crème de la crème league. The actor who topped Hollywood's most overpaid actors list is none other than Johnny Depp.
Depp is said to be one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood, but according to Forbes, he is the most overpaid actor. This is the second time in a row that Forbes has named him as the most overpaid actor. According to the Forbes, despite having box office flops in 2015 Deep's earnings did not see much fall.
The second actor on the list is Will Smith, who also did not witness any good box office success. Both the actors had poor box office runs, but still command eight-figure payments. Surprisingly, the list includes Channing Tatum, who scored a box office hit with Magic Mike XXL. However, his previous box office flops pull down the average money he returns at the box office.
Will Ferrell is the fourth actor in the most overpaid stars list and George Clooney rounds up the top five list. Clooney's movies are loved by critics, but it fails to show the same return at the box office.
The most overpaid actors' list is compiled by comparing the estimated remuneration the actor has charged for the last three films with the estimated budget and box office returns of those films. Deep's last three movies returned $2.80 at the ticket window for every $1 he was paid, while Smith returned $5 for every $1 he was paid, Forbes explained.
Tatum returned $6 for every $1 paid, Ferrell's return rate is $6.50, while Clooney's return rate is $6.70 for every $1 he was paid.
