The trailer from Rajinikanth's upcoming movie Petta has hit the internet with a bang on Friday, 28 December. It is a power-packed video loaded with mass moments.
What is the trailer all about?
The trailer does not give away much about the storyline and it is all about Rajinikanth's flamboyance. The superstar nails it with his unique mannerisms, comedy timings and with the way he mouths one-liners.
Going by the trailer, Rajinikanth's name in the movie is Kaali and plays the role of a warden in a college hostel. He beats up right, left, and centre anyone who rubs him the wrong way. One gets an impression that Rajini might be on a mission to unravel some mystery which could be the interesting part of the flick.
He has a violent past and Trisha appears to be his wife in the flashback.
His dialogues, stylish avatars and Anirudh's background score are the highlights of the Petta trailer. Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vijay Sethupathi along with Simran and Trisha make blink-and-miss appearance.
On the flip side, it looks like a over-streched video without much substance and would only satisy Rajini's hardcore fans. Karthik Subbaraj has taken inspiration from Rajinikanth's iconic roles - from Apoorva Raagangal to Baasha - and written the character with present-day sensibilities.
Produced by Sun Pictures, Petta will release on 10 January to coincide with the Pongal celebration.
