The Delhi Police said on Monday they have busted a new corporate espionage racket after arresting another person in connection with the leak of documents pertaining to coal, power and petroleum ministry.
"We have arrested one more person, Lokesh, who used to provide stolen documents of coal and petroleum ministry to some corporate houses. His arrest led us to burst another racket," said Police Commissioner BS Bassi, IANS reports.
Lokesh, 30, was a former member of the multi-tasking staff (MTS) at Shastri Bhavan, where the petroleum ministry office is situated. He was produced before a Delhi court at 2 pm on Monday.
FIR has been filed against Lokesh and some others for providing classified documents related to the petroleum, energy and some other ministries to people who had relations with corporate houses.
The fresh racket was busted when the police was investigating the petroleum ministry leak that was exposed on 17 February. Following the initial expose, 12 people including former journalist Santanu Saikia and five corporate officials were arrested.
While Lokesh was arrested on Sunday, more than eight people working with different ministries including coal, petroleum and power were taken into custody on Monday. According to police sources, they are hunting for Lokesh's accomplices.
