"PES 2017," the football simulation video game from Konami, signed up English Premier League team Liverpool FC as its latest official partner. This announcement follows the admission from Adam Bhatti, the community manager of PES series, that the game would receive a new EPL team.
This announcement is also expected to counter the EA's signing of the Manchester United, the star-studded team of the Red Devils, as the official partner for its upcoming "FIFA 17." "PES 2017" and "FIFA 17" are rivals in their genres.
Konami noted that Liverpool FC would join other official teams like Arsenal and Barcelona FC that would let "PES 2017" gain "unrivalled access" to the team and its players, including its legends. Like other official partnerships, this is also a three-year deal that will see licensed players, kits and stadiums.
Konami further noted that the access would be inclusive of "incredible likenesses, Player ID and team styles" that they are known for. It said: "The big one. Anfield. After a free update, it'll be in. Also, the 'You'll Never Walk Alone' anthem too!"
Players would also get Anfield, Liverpool's official stadium as a free update to "PES 2017."
"We will get unrivalled access to work with Liverpool F.C. to ensure their players are brought to life in our products, and will also work together in future promotional partnerships as well," said Jonas Lygaard, the Senior Director of Brand and Business Development at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V, in a statement.
"PES 2017" is expected to be released on Sept. 15 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS4.
