According to the synopsis of the episode by Spoiler TV: "The Machine experiences a glitch during rebooting, supplying Reese and Fusco with the numbers of dozens of people not actually involved in crimes, while also locking Finch (Michael Emerson) and Root (Amy Acker) out after identifying them as threats based on past violent behaviour."
The incident happens after the team has successfully managed to revive the Machine following the damage done to it by the Samaritans. However, when Finch and Root tried to reboot it, the Machine adapted defensive parameters and shut them out of the system.
However, the team had to deal with the real problem as the Machine has started to spew dozens of numbers due to a major glitch that makes it recognise non-threats as threats and vice-versa. According to Movie News Guide, the next episode will probably see an epic Finch-and-Root-versus-Machine fight.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Season 5 of "Person of Interest" will emphasise Root's character, who is the Machine's main user and also serves as its operator.
Movie News Guide has reported that in the recent Comic Con, Acker said the fifth season of the series might highlight the relationship between Root and Shaw (Sara Shahi). However, the relationship will be more professional than a personal one as both of them will join the team to save the Machine.
Shahi has said fans will get to see a more "dynamic" Shaw in the upcoming episodes of "Person of Interest" Season 5.
