Pawan Kalyan's much-anticipated "Gabbar Singh 2" is called off, according to latest reports from Tollywood news websites.
"Gabbar Singh 2" was launched in 2013 amid much fanfare. Directed by Sampath Nandi, the shooting of the film was expected to commence in August. However, the latest reports claim that the film has been shelved.
It was earlier reported that Kalyan was not happy with the script of "Gabbar Singh 2" and the actor had asked the director to rework on it. Power Star is said to have been dissatisfied with the latest version of the script following which the film was called off, reported APToday. However, there is no official announcement regarding this.
There are rumours claiming that "Gabbar Singh 2" makers have approached director Harish Shankar to come up with a script for Kalyan.
The actor is currently busy with the shooting of his upcoming film "Gopala Gopala," the remake of the critically-acclaimed Hindi film "Oh My God." The Poer Star will reprise Akshay Kumar's role of Lord Krishna, while Venkatesh will be doing Paresh Rawal's character from the original version.
The shooting of "Gopala Gopala" is progressing well. Kalyan will reportedly be shooting for 22 days for the satirical drama. The actor had set aside 15 days and had asked ₹15 crore for the project. But, when the film's producer Suresh Babu requested him to commit for 22 days, the actor accepted, reported Deccan Chronicle.
"Yes, he agreed. And now, Pawan Kalyan has set aside 22 days for the film. The shooting is currently on at the Rama Naidu studio, Nanakramguda, and a special set has been erected for it," a source associated with the project told DC.
Directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasany, "Gopala Gopala" has Shriya Saran, Mithun Chakraborty, Posani Krishna Murali, Raghu Babu and Vennela Kishore in supporting roles. The film's music is composed by Anoop Rubens.
