Popular television actor Sharad Kelkar has reportedly been roped in to play the role of villain in Power Star Pawan Kalyan's forthcoming movie "Gabbar Singh 2".
Sources at "Gabbar Singh 2" confirmed the news.
"Sharad has been finalised as the baddie. It was during the first schedule shooting in Maharashtra that the makers saw Sharad's performance in a TV serial. Quite impressed by his looks, they decided to sign him," IANS quoted a source as saying.
"Gabbar Singh 2", which is being produced by Pawan Kalyan's friend Sharath Marrar, is one of the most-talked projects in Tollywood. A lot has been spoken and written about its cast, crew, script and shooting. There were also rumours of the project having been shelved for some reasons. The news disappointed many mega fans, but the latest development has brought smiles back on their faces.
Sharad Kelkar, who hails from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, is a graduate in marketing from the Prestige Institute of Management & Research, Indore. He started his career as a model and was one of the finalists in Grasim Mr India contest. He made his acting debut in Akshaye Khanna's 2004 hit Bollywood film "Hulchul" as Anjali's (Kareena Kapoor) groom.
In 2005, Sharad Kelkar forayed into television with "Saat Phere - Saloni Ka Safar". He shot to fame as Nahar Pratap Singh in the serial. An interesting fact is that he fell in love with his co-star Keerti Gaekwad on the sets of this soap and later married her.
Subsequently, Sharad featured in "Pati Patni Aur Who", "Uttaran", "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge" and few other TV serials, apart from reality shows such as "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge" and "Nach Baliye 2".
His Bollywood movies include "1920: Evil Returns" and "Ram-Leela". He was last seen as villain in Marathi film "Lai Bhaari". "Gabbar Singh 2" will mark his debut in Tollywood.
