After several delays, owing to the Semandhara protests, the Pawan Kalyan starrer released on 27 September. Despite facing piracy issues, "Attarintiki Daredi" managed to take a fantastic opening on the first day of its release. The film received good reviews from critics, as well as the audience. It performed exceptionally well in India and created history in the US smashing several previous records set by Telugu films. According to Andhraboxoffice, the film's worldwide share is reportedly over ₹74 crore.
According to some reports, "Attarintiki Daredi" emerged as the new industry hit of Telugu cinema, surpassing Ram Charan's "Magadheera" (2009) which retained the top spot till the Pawan Kalyan starrer hit the screens and did extraordinary business. Despite many big films releasing in the last few months, "Attarintiki Daredi" managed to hold its on in a few theatres and continued its successful theatrical run in the New Year.
Though Pawan Kalyan fans are still relishing the film's success, the actor has moved on to his next project. The power star will be seen next in "Gabbar Singh 2", a sequel to the 2011 blockbuster of the same name.
The Sampath Nandi directorial was expected to go on floors in 2013 but it did not happen. According to reports, "Gabbar Singh 2" is all set to roll on in the next few weeks, mostly by January end. While Pawan will be playing the male lead, the film's heroine is yet to be finalised. Several names including Pranitha and Asin popped up but so far there has been no confirmation on the same.
The buzz is that Pawan and the film's team is looking for a fresh talent to be cast as heroine in "Gabbar Singh 2." Apparently, the actor will be finalising the leading lady within a week. Details about the film's other cast members are also still awaited.
