Sankranti 2015 will be a real treat for Telugu cinema lovers as several biggies are gearing up to hit screens in a bid to cash in on the long holidays.
Jr NTR's "Temper" is reportedly targeting a 9 January release. The film, directed by Puri Jagannadh, is currently progressing well and is expected to be wrapped up soon.
NTR will be playing a cop in this action entertainer, while Kajal Aggarwal will be playing the female lead opposite the young tiger of Telugu cinema. There are huge expectations from the film and it is expected to take big openings upon its release. However, the film is unlikely to enjoy a open run for a long period, as two other films are also set to hit screens for Sankranti 2015.
In less than a week of "Temper" release, Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh's "Gopala Gopala" will be hitting the screens. One of the film's producers, Sharrath Marar, has confirmed that the multi-starrer will have a Pongal (Sankranti) release. "#Gopalagopala confirmed for a Pongal release. Work progressing at a very good pace," Marar tweeted.
The film is expected to hit screens on 14 January, though an official confirmation on the exact release date is still awaited.
Directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasani, "Gopala Gopala" is a remake of the critically-acclaimed Hindi film "Oh My God." The film will have Venkatesh doing Paresh Rawal's role from the original version, while Pawan will be reprising Akshay's role of lord Krishna.
Besides these two films, one more entertainer is likely to join the Sankranti race. Newcomer Varun Tej's (nephew of Pawan Kalyan) debut film is also expected to release during the festive period. "We are planning to release the film during the coming Sankranti festival and the audio is coming out on December 14," film's director Srikanth Addala told Deccan chronicle.
There is going to be a huge clash between these films at the box office. In the past, Sankranti festival period has witnessed at least two big films locking horns with each other and both the films have managed to emerge successful.
During Sankranti 2015, there will be a triple clash much to the delight of the fans. However, the distributors of these films might be wary of releasing all three around the same time as they might eat into each other's business.
All three films are likely to target a big release worldwide as there will be huge demand for them. Since NTR's film is releasing ahead of the other two films, it is expected to clinch a good number of screens. But the film might lose some of the screens to "Gopala Gopala" and "Mukunda," later.
Expectations are sky high from all three films and it remains to be seen as to how they perform against each other at the box office.
