Actor Mahesh Babu has been ranked as the most 'dangerous celebrity online' from the Telugu film industry by global security software company McAfee.
McAfee carried out a study to find out the list of Telugu film celebrities with highest percentage of risk online. "Dookudu" actor Mahesh Babu has topped the list with a higher risk quotient online including social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.
Mahesh lead with 43 infected sites on his name. South star Ram Charan followed close on the list with 42 sites. The top 10 list also includes names of popular stars - Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun, NTR, Ileana, Anjali, Kriti Sanon, Amala Paul and Kajal Aggarwal.
Cyber criminals take advantage of fans who stalk their favourite celebrities online. They then lure those fans in to malicious sites by including the celebrity names on the website's search tags and then steal personal information and passwords of the users.
When fans sign up into these infected websites, they might end up with malware-ridden devices, Venkatasubrahmanyam Krishnapur, vice-president of engineering - consumer and mobile, Business Group, McAfee India Centre, told The Times of India.
McAfee has carried out the research on Tamil film celebrities as well. They found that actress Trisha topped the most "dangerous celebrity" list with the maximum number of infected sites (80). "Arrambam" actor Arya was next with 63 infected sites on his name, while "Singam 2" actor Suriya was in the third spot with 62 malicious sites.
Vijay, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Dhanush, Shriya Saran and Shruti Haasan are also in the top 10 list.
