Paul Walker's funeral is going to be a private family affair - by invitation only - but the cast and crew of "Fast & Furious" will be part of the ceremony, according to a report by TMZ.
The report came after the Los Angeles County coroner's office released the body of the "Fast & Furious" actor to his family and was taken to Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
A source close to Walker's family told TMZ that the funeral service would be a private affair keeping in mind the actor's 15-year-old daughter Meadow, who is devastated by the sudden death of her dad. The family does not want the teenager to be surrounded by strangers at a time when she is grieving the loss. However, the "Fast & Furious" cast and crew would be there, as they were like family to Walker.
Universal Pictures had earlier announced that "Fast & Furious 7" production would be halted following the demise of Walker.
"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew, and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise," Universal Pictures told US Weekly in a statement.
The family of the deceased have not revealed the date of the funeral service but reports are doing the rounds that it would take place this weekend. Sources also told TMZ that a larger memorial would be held later but again by invitation only.
Meanwhile, a global tribute ceremony has been announced on Paul's official Facebook page.
"We've seen the most incredible outpouring of support from Paul Walker fans over the past week. To those who have attended the many tributes worldwide, posted heartfelt messages online, and supported his charity Reach Out Worldwide -- we'd just like to say THANK YOU. Your gestures of love have meant so much. We promise to keep you updated via Paul's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, including on our plans for a global tribute. - Team PW," read the post.
Thousands of fans and car enthusiasts had on Sunday hit the streets of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles, at an unofficial memorial event organised in tribute to Walker and Roger Rodas, who died on 30 November after their Porsche Carrera GT met with an accident, bursting into flames after hitting a utility pole and a tree in Santa Clarita. The autopsy reports said the actor died of "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries" and his friend of "multiple traumatic injuries".
