The mortal remains of Paul Walker was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, two weeks after he was killed - along with his friend Roger Rodas - in a tragic car accident.

Around 50 guests - including Walker's family and friends - attended the 40-minute funeral ceremony to pay their last respect to the man, according US Weekly.

"A few people got up and gave tributes to Paul. It was hard for many people to talk, they were in tears and couldn't finish what they were saying," a source told US Weekly. "It was a really sad day for so many people, and you could tell they just weren't ready to say goodbye. His parents were there, along with his brothers and some other family members. Everyone was hugging each other tight and didn't want to let go."

Tyrese Gibson, Walker's co-star in "Fast & Furious", poured out his emotion on his Facebook page after the funeral.

"Today In a room full of your loved ones I wish today was your wedding instead.... God has a better plan even beyond ALL of our own understandings...... For selfish reasons we all wanted you to stay, another laugh, another take, another talk, another moment..... I guess you can't get all you ask for in life.... But our hearts are FULL from all the moments we DID have, 13 years of laughter and grace, humility and love..... Never did I take my access for granted."

The actor, who had reportedly helped Walker's family in the funeral preparations, urged his fans to pray for the family of the deceased, especially the actor's teenage daughter Meadow Walker.

"I said goodbye to a great man today, a man I never got to show just how much I love his spirit and his golden heart, "stay golden pony boy"... I hope you get my tweet in heaven, ps your right; 'stop talking just do it already';) Love you Paul, your departure is fuel to my fire, well meet again, enjoy that light," tweeted Michelle Rodriguez, Walker's co-star in "fast & Furious", on Saturday.

TMZ had earlier reported that the funeral service would be a private affair, keeping in mind the actor's 15-year-old daughter Meadow, who was devastated by the sudden death of her dad. The family does not want the teenager to be surrounded by strangers at a time when she is grieving the loss. It added that a larger memorial service is expected to take place later, though it would also be by invitation only.

Thousands of fans and car enthusiasts had earlier organised a rally in the streets of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles, as a tribute to Walker and Rodas, who died on 30 November after their Porsche Carrera GT met with an accident, bursting into flames after hitting a utility pole and a tree in Santa Clarita. The autopsy reports said the actor died of "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries" and his friend of "multiple traumatic injuries".
