A high alert was sounded in Pathankot on Thursday, May 4 after two suspicious bags were found lying unattended just a few yards away from the military base.
A few locals found two bags near Mamoon Cantonment and alerted the police. The cops rushed to the spot and the area was cordoned off.
Punjab police have recovered mobile tower batteries from the abandoned bags. Meanwhile, the police have tightened the security in the area and a search is being carried out to find the owner of bags.
A high alert was sounded in two districts, Gurdaspur and Pathankot, on Wednesday after an abandoned SUV was found near a village in Gurdaspur. The SUV was abandoned by three men– suspected to be from Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The SUV jumped the checkpost of Berhampur in Gurdaspur. Later, the vehicle was found abandoned at Makhanpur village near Bamiyal in Pathankot.
The car was found to be stolen from Jammu and Kashmir. According to India Today, an officer said, "It had a fake registration number plate. The car was stolen at knife-point from a person in Vijaynagar area of Jammu."
