Kalyan Ram's "Pataas" ("Patas") has received positive reviews from the critics, who have termed it as a complete commercial potboiler.
"Pataas," directed by Anil Ravipudi, has Kalyan Ram playing the role of a cop and female lead Shruti Sodhi appears as a reporter. The film also has Ashutosh Rana, Sai Kumar, Srinivas Reddy, Jayaprakash Reddy and Prithvi among others.
Plot: Kalyan Sinha (Kalyan Ram), a corrupt police officer, gets transferred on purpose to Hyderabad. There, he encourages a local politician (Ashutosh Rana) who does illegal activities and creates trouble for DGP (Sai Kumar). Why did Sinha arrive in Hyderabad? What is his connection to the DGP? Does Sinha mend his ways and becomes a sincere officer? To know the answers, one needs to watch the film.
Critics have appreciated writer-turned-director Ravipudi for making a formulaic commercial film more entertaining. Kalyan Ram's performance is being hailed as his best next to super-hit flick "Athanokkade" by the critics. Sai Kumar's character has also won accolades from them.
Screenplay, comedy and Kalyan Ram's performances are the major highlights of the film. On the flip side, the film does not offer anything new but is just a typical commercial entertainer, said the critics.
