Suzuki's highly anticipated Ignis compact crossover has made its European debut at the ongoing Paris Motor Show. The Ignis will go on sale in Europe in January 2017 and is expected to be launched in the Indian market by the end of this year.
The Ignis in the European market will be powered 1.2-liter DUALJET (K12C) petrol engine with the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki). The transmission will be taken care of by five-speed manual gearbox and five-speed AGS (auto gear shift).
When it comes to the Indian market, the Ignis, the compact crossover will be sold through Nexa, the premium dealership of Maruti Suzuki. As for engine, the India-spec model is likely to get a 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel unit. We also hear that Maruti is considering 1.0 BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine for the Ignis and could also be available with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) box.
In Europe, the Ignis will come packed with features such as LED headlamps, touch screen display with Bluetooth or USB compatibility, dual camera brake support, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and many more. The Ignis will get the ALLGRIP 4WD system in Europe. To be available in 14 body colours, including three new colours—Flame Orange Pearl Metallic, Neon Blue Metallic, and Helios Gold Pearl metallic and five dual-tone colours, the Ignis will have a ground clearance of 180mm.
In India, the Ignis will take on the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and is expected to be proced starting at Rs 5.5 lakh.
