Japanese electronics major Panasonic on Monday launched two new high-durable tablets and two hand-held PCs in India, targetted at Indian enterprises working in rugged environment.
Panasonic's two rugged tablet PCs - Toughpad FZ-G1 and Toughpad JT-P1 - are pegged to survive close to a 120 cm fall and also boasts of a water and dust-resistant body.
Toughpad FZ-G1 sports a 10.1-inch touch-screen display with 1920x1200p resolution and it runs on Windows 8 Pro OS powered by a third generation Intel Core i5 processor. Toughpad JT-B1 sports a smaller 7.0-inch screen with 1024x600p display resolution and runs on Android mobile OS v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS powered by a 1.5GHz Texas Instruments processor.
Toughpad FZ-G1 and Toughpad JT-B1, both hold an expensive price tag of ₹1,75,000 and ₹69,000, respectively. It remains to be seen if these high-priced devices elicit interest from price-conscious buyers of India amid rising competition from low-cost, feature packed tablets in the market
Speaking at the launch event, Hide Harada, Director of IT Products Business Division, Panasonic Corporation said, "Tablets and handheld computing devices are going to be significant drivers of enterprise mobility globally. The Japanese company also launched two more hand-held durable computer devices - Panasonic JT-H300 and JT-H320HT. Both devices run on the Windows OS and boast the company's exclusive TSA (Total Shock Absorbing) technology capable of withstanding falls from substantial heights and endure tough environmental conditions.
Panasonic JT-H300 and JT-H320HT are priced ₹60,000 and ₹40,000, respectively.
